Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a call with the Prime Minister of Qatar, expressed regret for the death of a Qatari security officer during Israel’s recent strike on Doha.
The call reportedly came alongside President Donald Trump’s involvement in de-escalation efforts.
Netanyahu told the Qatari leader:
“Mr. Prime Minister, Israel regrets one of your citizens was killed in our strike. I assure you, Israel targeted Hamas, not the Qataris. Israel has no plan to violate your sovereignty again; I committed this to the President.”
He acknowledged tensions between both countries, noting Israel’s grievances over Qatar’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Jazeera’s coverage, while recognizing Qatar’s own concerns about Israeli actions.
Netanyahu also welcomed President Trump’s proposal to establish a trilateral group—involving Israel, Qatar, and the United States—to address mutual complaints and prevent further escalation.
