The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended 14 lawyers to President Bola Tinubu for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria.
The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, where it was resolved to recommend to President Tinubu the names of 14 successful candidates for appointment as Judges of the Federal High Court.
A statement by the Council on Thursday night signed by its Deputy Director of Information, Mrs Kemi Babalola-Ogedengbe, however, said that at the time of the Council meeting, the security report on the candidates was not available.
The council, therefore, resolved to await the submission of the security report before forwarding the names of the candidates to the President.
Subsequently, having received the security report with no adverse comments on any of the recommended candidates, the Council on Thursday, January 22, 2026, forwarded the names of the candidates to the President for approval.
The 14 successful candidates recommended to the President included the incumbent Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, Suleiman Amida Hassan.
