The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bayo Ojulari, has expressed concerns about potential threats to his life and the safety of members of his management team.
Ojulari raised the alarm on Thursday during a meeting with a delegation from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Festus Osifo, at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja.
“I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. I will have to learn a bit more about politics, but for me, it is a development plan, and I’m ready to learn,” he said.
The NNPCL boss noted that his “offense” was implementing critical reforms in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to revive Nigeria’s ailing refineries.
According to him, certain powerful interests are actively working to frustrate the process and remove him from office.
Despite what he described as intimidation tactics, Ojulari reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the refinery rehabilitation plan, stressing that the reforms are crucial to stabilizing the oil and gas sector and securing energy for Nigerians.
