The Ondo State Government has rolled out a new fleet of ambulances to enhance emergency medical services and strengthen rapid-response operations across the state.
The ambulances were inaugurated in Akure by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami. Speaking at the ceremony, Adelami said the initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to saving lives and improving pre-hospital care for residents.

He announced that under the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS), the government will fund patient transportation and the first 48 hours of emergency treatment. He added that the state’s 24-hour emergency call center has been fully restored and equipped with modern communication facilities.
According to him, more than 100 emergency responders have been trained to guarantee quick, coordinated rescue operations during medical and road emergencies.
The Director General of NEMSAS, Hajia Fatima Ciroma, praised the state’s readiness to fully implement the service, saying the system will help stabilize patients before they reach hospital facilities.
Also speaking, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ondo State, Samuel Ibitoye, described the initiative as a major step toward improving road safety and reducing preventable deaths.
The event had in attendance top government officials, representatives of private health providers, and stakeholders in the emergency response sector.
