The Plateau State Government has confirmed 28 new cases of Lassa fever across seven local government areas (LGAs) of the state, with four deaths recorded so far.
State health authorities disclosed this in an official update on the outbreak, noting that response teams have been activated to contain the spread and provide treatment for infected persons.
Although details of the affected LGAs were not immediately disclosed, the government said surveillance, contact tracing, and public sensitisation efforts have been intensified in all high-risk areas.
Health officials urged residents to maintain strict hygiene, avoid contact with rodents, and report symptoms such as persistent fever, vomiting, weakness, or bleeding to the nearest health facility.
The Plateau State Government reassured the public of its commitment to controlling the outbreak in collaboration with relevant health agencies.
