The Anambra State Police Command has restored calm in Umuoba Anam Community following a clash between indigenes and members of the Hausa community on Sunday.

According to sources, the incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. on March 21, when hoodlums, believed to be natives of Umuoba Anam Village, attacked the Hausa residents.

The assault was reportedly in retaliation for the alleged killing of a woman in Asaba, Delta State, who was said to be from Umuoba Anam, and the perpetrators mistakenly blamed members of the Hausa community.

Police and tactical teams, supported by other security agencies, were immediately dispatched to the scene. By the time they arrived, the hoodlums had fled after stealing phones and damaging some property. No casualties were reported.
