President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the name of General Christopher Gwabin Musa to the National Assembly for confirmation as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence, LeadNaija News reports.
The nomination, announced on Monday, marks a major move in the ongoing reorganisation of the nation’s security architecture. General Musa, a former Chief of Defence Staff, is widely regarded for his frontline experience and counter-terrorism leadership.
According to presidency sources, the decision is part of President Tinubu’s renewed push to strengthen national security coordination and enhance Nigeria’s defence capabilities.
If confirmed, General Musa will be expected to drive reforms across the Armed Forces, intensify operations against terrorism and banditry, and oversee strategic defence policies.
