The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of General Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Defence Staff.
He was confirmed barely an hour after he and the other newly appointed service chiefs arrived at the Senate building amidst tight security.
Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, described the screening as a vital constitutional duty to choose the most competent and patriotic officers.
He congratulated them on their well-deserved appointments and “commend you for the years of dedicated service you have rendered to our great nation.”
