Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been reportedly hospitalized in London following what sources describe as an emergency medical situation, LeadNaija News has learned.
According to multiple sources both within and outside the Senate President’s office, Akpabio fell ill while returning from Geneva, Switzerland, where he had attended a parliamentary engagement. His flight was diverted to London to allow for immediate medical intervention.
Though the nature of the illness remains undisclosed, a source familiar with the matter described it as “serious enough to warrant urgent medical attention abroad.”
The development was also disclosed on Wednesday via a post by investigative journalist Jackson Ude, who shared the information through his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.
“Senate President Godswill Akpabio is currently receiving treatment in a London hospital after suffering a medical emergency while returning from Geneva,” Ude wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, official confirmation from Akpabio’s media office or the Senate spokesperson is still pending.
