Senator Agom Jarigbe, representing the Cross River North Senatorial District, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Jarigbe announced his defection on Wednesday evening after visiting the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he and Senator Kaila Samaila Dahuwa of Bauchi North were received by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The visit was facilitated by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who led both lawmakers to meet with the President.
Speaking after the meeting, Senator Jarigbe said his decision to join the APC was influenced by President Tinubu’s performance and leadership direction.
“I joined the APC because President Tinubu is doing well, and I want to come in and support him,” he stated.
Senator Jarigbe’s defection strengthens the APC’s influence in the National Assembly, as more lawmakers continue to align themselves with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
