The Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Senator Kombowei Benson, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Benson announced his defection on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, citing alignment with the progressive agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as one of his reasons.
His defection further strengthens the APC’s presence in the South-South region, coming shortly after the defection of Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and several members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly to the ruling party.
