A new war between Israel and Lebanon appears imminent as military tensions surge along the border, following a series of Israeli airstrikes and warnings to the Lebanese Army.
According to Israel Today, the Lebanese Army has refused to vacate its positions in southern Lebanon, even as Israel continues targeting areas suspected of housing Hezbollah operations.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Israeli officials have warned: “If the Lebanese Army does not disarm Hezbollah, Israel will do it.”
Tonight’s strikes on Kfar Dunin were reportedly scaled back after Lebanese forces refused to withdraw. The town’s mayor confirmed that Lebanese troops remain in their positions despite repeated Israeli warnings.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) condemned Israel’s attacks as violations of UN Resolution 1701, cautioning that such actions endanger diplomatic efforts and civilian lives.
Observers say the situation could ignite a wider conflict if both sides fail to de-escalate — a development critics sarcastically note could soon be claimed as another “war stopped” by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, despite rising regional instability.
