President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as the Renewed Hope Ambassador of the Federal Government, according to a State House statement released on Monday.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, coincides with preparations for the national launch of the Ward Development Programme. Governor Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilisation.
In his new role, the Imo State governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum will lead efforts to promote the administration’s policies and achievements in collaboration with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and fellow governors, who will also function as Ambassadors of Hope.
A statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said Governor Uzodimma is expected to ensure “harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination” across all levels of the party while mobilising grassroots support for the Renewed Hope agenda.
President Tinubu urged the new ambassador to intensify efforts to make Nigerians aware of the administration’s milestones since May 2023, citing a steady decline in inflation for seven consecutive months to 16.05% in October, a stabilised exchange rate, and foreign reserves rising to over $46 billion from $32 billion (with a net reserve of $4 billion) inherited in 2023.
Other highlighted achievements include renewed investor confidence, increased foreign direct and portfolio investments, a booming stock market, diversification into solid minerals, enrolment of over 700,000 students under the liberalised student loan scheme, and the reduction of passport processing time to one week.
The President expressed confidence that Governor Uzodimma and the APC governors will effectively disseminate these gains to reinforce the message of Renewed Hope across the country.
