Turkey has called on Israel to immediately halt its military offensive in Gaza and urged both sides to begin negotiations for a ceasefire without delay, stressing the urgent need to end the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.

In a statement released by the Office of the President, Ankara condemned the escalation of violence that has led to widespread civilian casualties, displacement, and infrastructure destruction in Gaza.

“Israel must immediately stop its attacks against the people of Gaza and we call on the parties to start without delay negotiations that lead to the establishment of a ceasefire,” the Turkish President declared.

Turkey’s position comes as international pressure mounts for a cessation of hostilities following weeks of intensified bombardment and cross-border attacks. Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of looming famine, medical shortages, and the collapse of essential services in Gaza.

Over the years, Turkey has positioned itself as a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights while maintaining diplomatic ties with Israel. The current call reflects Ankara’s attempt to balance its regional influence with its long-standing solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Diplomatic observers note that Turkey has previously played mediatory roles during past Gaza conflicts, working alongside Qatar and Egypt to broker temporary truces. Whether Ankara’s latest intervention will gain traction remains to be seen, especially as negotiations between Hamas, Israel, and international mediators remain stalled.

The Turkish President’s remarks also align with calls from other regional powers urging de-escalation. However, the U.S. and Israel have insisted that any ceasefire must include the release of hostages and disarmament guarantees from Hamas — conditions that remain deeply contentious.

As the conflict intensifies, Turkey has pledged to continue humanitarian support for Gaza, including food, medical aid, and shelter assistance through the Turkish Red Crescent. If You’re Reading From Phoenix Click On Read Original  at the top To Read Full Article

International response is expected to shape the coming days, as Ankara pushes for what it describes as an “urgent and non-negotiable” ceasefire to prevent further civilian suffering.
