The lawmakers are Hon. Mrs. Barile Nwakoh, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, and Hon. Emilia Amadi, both of whom formally stepped back from the impeachment actions on Wednesday.
Their decision brings the total number of lawmakers who have withdrawn from the impeachment process to four, out of the 26 members initially reported to be backing the move.
Sources within the Assembly said the lawmakers cited concerns over due process, political stability, and the need to prioritise governance and peace in the state.
The development is seen as a significant setback for the impeachment plot, which has heightened political tension in Rivers State in recent weeks.
Governor Fubara and his deputy have consistently denied any wrongdoing, while calling on lawmakers to uphold constitutional provisions and focus on delivering dividends of democracy to the people.+See more details
Political observers believe the growing withdrawals may signal cracks within the Assembly and could ultimately stall or collapse the impeachment attempt entirely.
