In addition to ending a losing streak of three matches, the victory moved QPR closer to the Championship play-off spots by three points. After suffering through a run of poor form in recent weeks, QPR took a positive step forward with the outcome.
In the fifth minute of the match, Blackburn took the lead with a header by Michael Frey. The visitors took an early lead thanks to Frey’s header after Blackburn had provided a well-placed ball. After falling down, QPR responded positively and kept trying to find an equaliser.
They were rewarded for their perseverance in the 28th minute as Ilias Chair brilliantly assisted from a free-kick. With a deft touch, Frey headed in his sixth goal of the season from his cross, tying the game at one-all. Throughout the encounter, Chair was a persistent danger for Blackburn, continuing his remarkable form.
After losing the first half, Blackburn came storming back to tie the game in the 53rd minute on a penalty kick goal by Tyrhys Dolan. Koki Saito of QPR was sent off for a foul on Callum Brittain inside the penalty area. In spite of the loss, QPR maintained their forward pressure and showed no signs of giving up.
In the 76th minute, Jack Colback scored a spectacular goal from outside the penalty area to win it. The midfielder scored QPR’s third goal, a 3-2 lead, with a powerful shot that beat Aynsley Pears of Blackburn. Colback scored for the first time in almost a year, and the goal was the game-winner.
Despite Blackburn’s late efforts to equalise, QPR remained resolute after gaining the lead. Even in their most recent five Championship away games, Blackburn have failed to earn a single point.CLICK HERE TO KEEP READING>
The victory gives QPR a boost to their playoff aspirations and pushes them up to thirteenth place in the league. On the other hand, Blackburn are still in fifth place, and their disappointing away record from home is a major cause for concern.
