The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has charged troops under Operation Safe Haven in Kaduna and Plateau states to prioritize the protection of human rights while conducting their operations.
The CDS made the call on Wednesday during his operational visit to frontline units, including the 2 National Mission Brigade in Samaru Kataf, Kaduna State, and Sector 8 in Mangu, Plateau State.
Addressing the troops, Musa emphasized the importance of respecting human rights, stating that members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) are trained to safeguard lives and property while upholding the rights of citizens.
He urged the troops to intensify their efforts in combating criminal elements, saying, “Take the fight to the criminals’ hideouts and flush them out completely. I want to see renewed vigor and greater success in the fight against insurgency in 2025.”
Musa also cautioned troops against any illegal activities that could tarnish the reputation of the AFN, stressing the need for teamwork to achieve operational goals.
During the visit, Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, briefed the CDS on the general security situation in the joint operational area.
In Southern Kaduna, Musa paid homage to the Chief of Kagoro, His Royal Highness Agwam Ufuwai Bonet, thanking him for his support to troops operating in the region.
The CDS was accompanied by Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, who commended the CDS for implementing solutions to address insecurity in the area.
The visit is part of the CDS’s ongoing efforts to strengthen military operations and ensure peace and stability across the country.Don’t Miss Out! READ FULL ARTICLE
