The National Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Belusochukwu Enwere, has dismissed allegations linking Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to the recent violence and alleged kidnapping at the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) convention in Abuja.
The controversy emerged after the convention, where Comrade Olushola Oladoja was elected as the new NANS President.
However, Atiku Isah, who reportedly did not participate in the electoral process, rejected the outcome and proclaimed himself President, accusing Seyi Tinubu of orchestrating the disruption to favour Oladoja.
Enwere denounced the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, stressing that they undermine ongoing national efforts to tackle insecurity.
“It is widely known that Seyi Tinubu is a law-abiding citizen. These false accusations not only tarnish his image but also distract from the real issues affecting young Nigerians,” he stated.
The YOWICAN chairman demanded a public apology from Isah and urged security agencies to investigate and hold him accountable for what he called “unwarranted and defamatory claims.”
He further called on political actors and student leaders to avoid spreading misinformation, warning that such actions could destabilize the country.
“At a time when the government is making concerted efforts to combat insecurity, it is disheartening to see individuals propagate falsehoods for political gain. We must unite to support initiatives aimed at restoring peace and stability,” Enwere said.
He urged all stakeholders to prioritize constructive dialogue and national unity over political theatrics and misinformation.
