Human rights activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has once again raised alarm over what he describes as a coordinated attempt by the Nigeria Police Force and the judiciary to frustrate his legal challenge against the appointment of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Sowore, who disclosed the update on Monday via his verified X handle, said he would be appearing before the Federal High Court in Abuja to continue his battle against what he termed the “illegality” surrounding the appointment of the current IGP by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, since January 2025, the police — under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun — have dragged him to court with the aim of confiscating his international passport under the guise of bail conditions.

He alleged that the court proceedings, presided over by Justice Musa Suleiman Liman, have been marred by “delay, obstruction and bad faith,” claiming that the judge has repeatedly adjourned hearings or been unavailable, effectively stalling his application for the release of his passport.

Sowore further stated that at a point during the proceedings, he was asked to provide proof that he has a wife and children in the United States — a demand he described as “arbitrary, invasive and intended to prolong harassment.”

He maintained that the police hierarchy, led by the “illegally appointed” IGP Egbetokun, initiated what he called a “nonsensical witch-hunt” from the start of the year, adding that the struggle has become “long but consequential.”

Despite the challenges, Sowore declared that he remains undaunted, unbroken and resolute as he returns to court in continuation of the legal confrontation.
