Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, proposing a total budget estimate of ₦780 billion.
The budget, tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth,” aims to consolidate the administration’s developmental agenda by prioritizing infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic diversification.
Governor Otu, while presenting the proposal before lawmakers in Calabar, emphasized that the budget reflects his government’s commitment to broad-based development, ensuring that all sectors and communities in the state benefit from government initiatives.
He noted that the 2026 fiscal plan seeks to sustain ongoing projects and stimulate new investments that will drive economic inclusion and job creation across the state.
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Elvert Ayambem, commended the governor for the timely presentation and assured that the Assembly would give the proposal accelerated consideration in line with the state’s fiscal calendar.
