The COWA Sustainability & Green Borders Summit launch is a response to
complex set of challenges that threaten national stability, security, and development.
These border regions are grappling with deforestation, inadequate sanitation, growing youth unemployment, and increasing exposure to illicit cross-border activities.
Its goals include restoring local ecosystems, empowering women and youth, and strengthening community resilience against smuggling and other illicit activities.
With the theme, “Greening Borders, Empowering Lives: Women & Youth as Champions of Sustainable Trade,” highlights the major roles that women and young people play in shaping a sustainable future. It underscores the importance of integrating environmental stewardship with economic empowerment and border transformation.
