Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of Police Detective College in Bende, Abia State.
This followed the signing into law of the bill to provide a legal framework to regularize the existing police training institutions and for the establishment of new ones.
The bill was sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abdulhamid Mallam- Madori was passed in the Senate on March 5, 2025, while the House approved it on May 7, 2025.
The Deputy Speaker thanked the sponsor of the bill, the Senate, and his colleagues in the House for their support.
The establishment of the Police Detective College in Bende is expected to enhance security in Abia State and the broader South East region.
