Former Kogi West lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “dead and buried,” insisting that the once-dominant opposition party has lost its political relevance.
Melaye, a former PDP governorship candidate in Kogi State, made the remark while addressing journalists in Abuja. He alleged that internal wrangling, weak leadership, and a lack of strategic direction have eroded the party’s credibility and left it incapable of mounting any serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The PDP you used to know is gone. The party is dead and buried,” Melaye stated, dismissing ongoing reconciliation moves within the opposition as “medicine after death.”
His comments come amid renewed tussles over the leadership of the PDP, with governors and key stakeholders divided over the choice of a new National Chairman and Secretary.
