In a recent podcast, renowned Disc Jockey DJ Obi shared his insights on Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy, describing him as a “blessing” and a “great person.”
According to DJ Obi, Burna Boy is often misunderstood, with people only seeing one side of his personality. “Burna is such a blessing and people misunderstand that. He’s just a man that knows what he wants. You feel me? He’s not going to budge for anybody.”
DJ Obi revealed that during their alone times, he’s experienced a more genuine and kind side of Burna Boy, which contradicts the public’s perception of him. He believes that Burna Boy enjoys the online attention and controversies, often thriving on the Twitter drama and public scrutiny.
“He enjoys online with the Twitter, with the tweets and all the exes. I don’t know what they call it now, but he enjoys all that stuff. But I feel like he’s one of the best things in my life because when I get that one-on-one time with him and I see him for that many, or I see him for who he really is, it’s like, he’s a great person.
“You feel me? But maybe he shouldn’t call it that, because part of having him as a blessing in my life is the fact that not everybody can experience him like that. But I just feel like to some level, because he has never been able to talk like this fully, not necessarily talk about himself as Burna boy and like African giant and the colonizers and all that. He’s actually a great guy.” he said.
Despite this, DJ Obi emphasizes that Burna Boy is a complex individual who deserves respect. He warns against disrespecting the artist, noting that those close to him consider him a huge blessing in their lives.
“So don’t disrespect him. He’s not going to disrespect you. To everybody that’s close to him in his life, he’s a huge blessing.“
