Former US President Donald Trump says he is a “better-looking person” than Kamala Harris, the vice-president and Democratic Party candidate for the November election.
At a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, Trump continued his barrage of attacks on Harris’ identity and appearance, repeatedly describing her as a “lunatic”.
“As soon as she laughs, the election’s over,” he added.
The two-time presidential candidate also criticised Harris’ economic plan.
“Yesterday, Kamala laid out her so-called economic plan. She says she’s going to lower the cost of food and housing starting on day one. But day one for Kamala was three and a half years ago,” he said.
Last week, Trump praised Harris’ Time magazine cover, describing her as “the most beautiful actress ever to live” and comparing her to Melania, his wife.
Revisiting the topic at the rally, the former president advised his party members and supporters not to compliment a woman’s beauty.
“Don’t ever call a woman beautiful, because that’ll be the end of your political career, please,” Trump said.
“But I say that I am much better looking. I’m a better-looking person than Kamala,” he added.
“They said, ‘No, her biggest advantage is that she’s a beautiful woman.’ I’m going, huh? I never thought of that. I’m better looking than she is.”
In other recent remarks, Trump suggested that Harris’s appearance would undermine her with world leaders, saying they would view her as a “play toy”.
Amid the attacks, the US vice-president has recorded a gaping lead with female voters.
A new New York Times-Siena poll said Harris is ahead of Trump by 14 percentage points with women in the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada, where Trump and President Joe Biden were tied with women in May Continue>.
