“Don’t Stay Away, Nigeria is Rising Again”-Tinubu to Nigerians in Diaspora

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians in the Diaspora to return home and contribute their skills and resources to the country’s development, declaring that “Nigeria is on the rise again.”

Tinubu made the appeal on Thursday in Yokohama, Japan, during an interactive session with Nigerians living in the country on the sidelines of the ongoing Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).

“I am happy to report that many of our people are returning home. Yes, for economic reasons, some people might decide to stay away; it’s a fundamental right of the individual. But for the economic growth and opportunities available in Nigeria, don’t stay away. Your contribution is very much needed. If you stay away, who will build it?” he asked.

Tinubu noted that his government had recorded progress in areas such as passport issuance, economic reforms, healthcare upgrades, and investment attraction, assuring the Diaspora community that Nigeria was gradually becoming more conducive for businesses and citizens.

Some members of the Nigerian community in Japan expressed satisfaction with the government’s reforms and pledged to support the administration’s efforts.

President of the Nigerian Union in Japan, Mr. Emeka Ebogota, thanked the President for engaging them and affirmed the Union’s commitment to contributing to the country’s transformation.

Other notable attendees at the meeting included Mr. John Ologbotsere, a Japanese national award winner for electrotechnical standardisation; Mr. Kingsley Kabuyashi, entrepreneur and investor; as well as businesspeople, doctors, and students.
