A 38-year-old Durban woman attempted to take her own life after her ex-boyfriend allegedly sent their p*rnographic videos and images of their past relationship to her son, mother, and work colleagues.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), officers were called by the victim’s family last week Wednesday after the 42-year-old ex-boyfriend was spotted outside their home.
The man reportedly became enraged after seeing a photo of the woman’s new boyfriend on her WhatsApp status, who turned out to be his friend.
When the woman blocked him on social media, he allegedly retaliated by sharing p*rnographic material from their three-year relationship. The explicit videos were even sent to her teenage son, mother and working colleagues prompting the distraught mother to attempt suicide.
RUSA medics provided immediate assistance, and she is currently in stable condition. The suspect fled the area before first responders arrived, and police are investigating the incident.
