The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said Ebonyi State will deliver 95% of its votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election, adding that he will work with Governor Francis Nwifuru to secure massive support for the President.Continue »
Umahi made the statement while inspecting the Abaomoge/Akpoha/Afikpo road project in Ebonyi State. He said no president has executed the level of infrastructure currently being delivered in the South-East and urged regional leaders to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He added that Ebonyi would embark on aggressive mobilisation to reward the President for ongoing projects. He said: “I use this opportunity to ask our leaders to come out and speak out, you know, because we shouted marginalisation, but now we are not marginalised by the President.”
He further stated: “Let me tell you, there’s no other ministry in this administration that is as big as the Ministry of Works, and it’s being handled by an Igbo man, so what a trust… without the Ministry of Works being an Igbo man, maybe we have some projects, but it will not be this magnitude.”
On political inclusion, he said: “And so, I think that the President is very strategic, you know, in getting Southeast people to the mainstream of Nigerian politics, and so we have to be wise.” On Tinubu’s performance, he added:
“I have not even started shouting about the good things that the President is doing in the Southeast. I’m ready to engage anybody; let the person tell me who else would have done this, if not the President.” On electoral support, he said:
“In this Ebonyi, working with Governor Nwifuru, we will deliver 95% of our votes to Tinubu; we have no reason to give it to any other person… The last general election was an accident of history, and it will not repeat itself.” He concluded by calling for mobilisation ahead of the election.
