Justice A.O. Okunuga of the Lagos State High Court siting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday October 7, 2025 issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Olubunmi Akintoye for failing to appear in court for her trial.
The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, arraigned Akintoye on a 12-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of N233, 000,000( Two Hundred and Thirty-three Million Naira).
One of the counts reads: “That you, Olubunmi Akintoye Adeola (Trading under the name and style of Fola Mart International), on or about the 11th October, 2021 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your own use the sum of N25,000,000 (Twenty-five Million Naira), property of Alhaja Bolaji Fowosire and Iceland International Limited.”
Another count reads: “That you, Olubunmi Akintoye Adeola (Trading under the name and style of Fola Mart International), on or about the 12th October, 2021 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your own use the sum of N30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira), property of Alhaja Bolaji Fowosire and Iceland International Limited.”
Akintoye pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when they were read to her.
During the sitting on Tuesday, prosecution counsel, R.A. AbdulRasheed, informed the court that the defendant was last seen in court on October 15, 2024.
Abdulrasheed also prayed the court to revoke her bail and order her arrest.
Ruling on the application, Justice Okunuga, held that “the application is granted as prayed”
