Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has addressed questions surrounding the disappearance of Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata.
Speaking on the matter, El-Rufai stated that Dadiyata was a critic of the Kano State Government and had issues with former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, not Kaduna State.
According to him:
“He is a critic of the Kano government; it was Ganduje that was his problem. I don’t even know him. We only got a report of Dadiyata’s existence after his family reported to the police that he was abducted.”
El-Rufai further claimed that three days after Dadiyata’s abduction, a police officer allegedly posted from Kano to Ekiti reportedly confessed to someone that they were sent from Kano to abduct him and later felt remorseful.
He maintained that the matter was not an issue involving the Kaduna State Government, emphasizing that his knowledge of the case was limited to what was officially reported.
Dadiyata, a social media commentator, was declared missing after he was reportedly abducted from his residence in 2019, a case that has continued to generate public concern and calls for accountability.
Further reactions are expected as the debate around the case resurfaces.
