Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has disclosed that he formally wrote to the National Security Adviser (NSA) seeking clarification over reports alleging the importation of thallium sulphate, a highly toxic substance.
In a post shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, El-Rufai stated: “As part of my duty as a citizen, I wrote to the NSA to seek clarification on reports about the importation by his office of thallium sulphate, a very dangerous toxin. It’s a matter of concern if anyone brings in any poison, more so an odourless, colourless one.”
Thallium sulphate is widely recognized as a toxic chemical, historically used in rodenticides but restricted or banned in many countries due to its severe health risks.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from the Office of the National Security Adviser regarding the allegation.
The development adds to ongoing political tensions, with observers awaiting clarification from relevant authorities.
