Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, has said that the likes of Estevao Willian and Cole Palmer are the reason fans pay money to watch the west London side.

The Italian was responding to the criticism he faced from supporters on Saturday over his decision not to start the 18-year-old.

He kept the young Brazilian on the bench despite his man-of-the-match performance against Qarabag in the Champions League earlier this week.

Maresca brought Estevao on in the 64th minute against Wolves after the Blues had taken the lead through Malo Gusto.

Minutes after coming off the bench, the 18-year-old provided the cross for Joao Pedro’s goal.

Pedro Neto then struck to complete the victory, taking the Blues to second on the table and six points behind Arsenal.

Fielding questions about the young Brazilian during his post match press conference, the former Leicester City boss said, “Yeah, you can see that, absolutely.

“His talent is top. Again, we are trying to help him adapt and give him the right minutes, and he’s doing fantastic

“He will be for this club, in the next five or ten years, a top, top player.

“I said already twice that the reason fans pay tickets is because they want to see players like Estevao and Cole [Palmer] because people are happy when they are on the pitch.

“The only difference is Estevao arrived from Brazil, he needs to adapt a little bit.

“Slowly, slowly, he’s going to start games for us in the future.

“And then when Estevao was on the pitch the energy rose because people loved that kind of player, so we are happy he can help the team and the fans can be happy.”
