Erling Haaland scored a brace to lead Manchester City to a comprehensive 4-0 win over Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday.
The Cityzens produced a dominant performance to brush aside Wolves in their first match of the season.
Guardiola handed the trio of Rayan Aït-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, and James Trafford their full Premier League debuts while Rayan Cherki came off the bench.
Haaland opened the scoring in the 34th minute following a good work from Reijnders to release Lewis on the right-hand side, who delivered a first-time cross into the six-yard box for the Norwegian forward to tap home.
Reijnders added the second goal with a low effort in the 37th minute, finishing off a pass from Oscar Bobb.
Wolves resumed the second half with intent and purpose but they were unable to break down Man City’s defence with the duo of John Stones, and Ruben Dias keeping them at bay.
Reijnders turned provider to assist Erling Haaland for Manchester City’s third goal just after the hour mark.
Substitute Rayan Cherki put the icing on the cake with a clinical finish from outside the box in the 81st minute to become the second debutant to score for the club in the encounter.
Reijnders became the second player to score, and assist on their Premier League debut for Man City after Sergio Agüero vs. Swansea City in 2011.
Haaland also scored on the opening weekend of the Premier League for the fourth consecutive year.
Manchester City have won 14 of their last 15 games on MD1 in the Premier League (L1), scoring 41 goals in total.
Reijnders, who was named man of the match, was delighted to start his Premier League career with a goal, and an assist.
He said: “It’s really nice to start with a goal and assist and especially in the Premier League, it’s what you’ve dreamt about. Starting like this, it couldn’t be better. In the first game of the season, you don’t know what will happen or how the opponent will play and we did quite well. They put some good pressure on us but we stayed calm.
“Last season, Man City didn’t win the Premier League and that’s our main goal [this season]. We all know what we want and we’re all sharp to reach that goal.”
In the other Premier League games on Saturday, Tottenham recorded a 3-0 win over Burnley thanks to a brace from Richarlison, and Brennan Johnson added the other goal.
Newly-promoted Sunderland earned a shock 3-0 victory over West Ham at the Stadium of Light courtesy of goals from Eliezer Mayenda, Daniel Ballard, and Wilson Isidor.
Brighton and Fulham played out a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium.
Matt O’Riley opened the scoring for Brighton in the 55th minute before Rodrigo Muniz equalised for Fulham in the 96th minute.
Up next for Manchester City is a clash against Tottenham on Saturday while Wolves will take on Bournemouth on the same day.
