Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace and security as Katsina State, in collaboration with international partners, launched a €5.1 million Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response, and Resilience Programme funded by the European Union (EU).
The 18-month initiative, unveiled on Monday in Katsina, will be implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), and Mercy Corps, in partnership with state and local governments. It will be coordinated locally by the Katsina State Development Management Board (KTSDMB).
EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, H.E. Grantier Migrot, led the delegation at the launch, where Governor Radda described the programme as “a new era of partnership, hope, and collective action” focused on peace-building, resilience, and inclusive development.
The initiative will focus on three pillars: peace-building and conflict mitigation, livelihood support and economic recovery, and governance and institutional strengthening.
According to Governor Radda, the programme will also support internally displaced persons (IDPs), host communities, and vulnerable groups through vocational training, climate-smart agriculture, market access, and over 20 quick-impact projects. Community peace structures, early warning systems, and media campaigns promoting peace will also be established.
At the launch, Governor Radda inaugurated the Project Steering Committee, tasked with ensuring transparent and accountable delivery of the programme.
“I remain fully committed to building the Katsina we all dream of—a safer, stronger, and more prosperous state for all,” the governor wrote via his verified X handle.
