Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of Ghana and prominent women’s rights advocate, passed away at 76 on Thursday morning after a brief illness

This was announced by Ghana’s presidential spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Her family formally notified President John Mahama of her passing on Thursday afternoon.

Ghana’s parliament adjourned in her honour, reflecting her status as an iconic figure in the nation’s political and social history.
