Hon. Oghene Egoh, a former member of the House of Representatives, has accused Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, of neglecting the Niger Delta while in office.

Egoh said Amaechi prioritised the construction of a railway to Niger Republic over critical infrastructure projects in the South-South.

The former lawmaker, who represented Amuwo-Odofin federal constituency, spoke in Lagos while reacting to Amaechi’s criticism of the Lagos–Calabar coastal road project.

Amaechi, a former presidential aspirant, had reportedly described the project as fraudulent and vowed to cancel it if elected president.

Egoh, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2024, said the Lagos–Calabar coastal road would be a “transformational” project that boosts trade, strengthens interstate relations, and drives economic growth.

He also praised President Bola Tinubu’s policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies, saying they would yield long-term benefits despite current economic hardship.
