Hope For Ukraine founder, Yuriy Boyechko, on Wednesday pressed for additional United States government sanctions against Russia and its trading partners.
His call followed President Donald Trump’s significant policy shift on Tuesday after months of suggesting that Kiev could neither win the war nor recover lost provinces.
The president lauded the Ukrainian people for their “great spirit”, predicting that Ukraine might be “able to take back their country “in its original form.”
With time and the financial backing of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Ukraine could defeat Russia and “maybe go further,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
In his reaction to President Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky’s meeting in New York, Boyechko said the positive statements expressed must be proven.
“Now is the time to turn that rhetoric into concrete actions in support of Ukraine,” he noted, urging the approval of more defensive and offensive military weapons.
“If President Trump believes that Ukraine can win against Russia, he must immediately move forward with sanctions against Russia and its trading partners”, Boyechko advised.
The humanitarian advocates America’s commitment to security guarantees toward Europe, along with “forceful response” to every Russian provocation against NATO states.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Marco said Washington’s patience with Russia is not “infinite,” warning of consequences if efforts for a peaceful resolution fail.
