The U.S. military has begun flying surveillance drones over Gaza as part of an international mission to monitor compliance with the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.
Operations are conducted with Israel’s consent, supporting a new Civil-Military Coordination Center run by U.S. Central Command in southern Israel.
The center, staffed by about 200 U.S. personnel, tracks cease-fire implementation and coordinates humanitarian access.
LeadNaija News report that this marks the first time since the war began that the U.S. is independently monitoring Gaza rather than relying solely on Israeli intelligence. Possibly a sign of diminished trust between Washington and Tel Aviv?
Officials say the truce remains fragile, and U.S. drones are meant to prevent either side from escalating.
