Chelsea have confirmed that Nigerian-born midfielder, Ashanti Akpan, will spend the 2024/2025 season on loan at Birmingham City in the Women’s Championship.
The Premier League West London club disclosed this in a statement on their website on Thursday.
The 18-year-old signed her first professional contract midway through last season with Chelsea.
Akpan made her debut for Chelsea’s senior team back in March 2023 when she came off the bench in a 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final.
“Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Ashanti every success during her time with Birmingham City,” Chelsea’s statement read in part.
Akpan was born in Warsaw to a Polish mother and a Nigerian father.
