FACTCHECK: Court DID NOT Ordered the Arrest of Ex-INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu Hours After Stepping Down

Reports by some media outlets claiming that a court ordered the arrest of former INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, are false and misleading.

The Federal High Court in Osogbo made no such order against Yakubu. The ruling in Suit No. FHC/OS/CS/194/2024 was directed at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as an institution, not at any individual.

The case, filed by the Action Alliance (AA), concerns INEC’s compliance with a judgment on uploading the party’s leadership list. The new order simply instructed the Inspector General of Police to ensure INEC’s compliance — not to arrest Yakubu. If You’re Reading From Phoenix Click On Read Original  at the top To Read Full Article

Misleading headlines is a clear distortion of the court’s decision. Responsible journalism requires accuracy, not sensational clickbait. Mahmood Yakubu faces no arrest order whatsoever.
