Tragedy has struck the family of one of the abducted pupils of St. Mary’s School, Niger State, as Mr. Anthony — father of three of the kidnapped children — has died from heart failure.

Family sources confirmed to LeadNaija News on Wednesday that the deceased collapsed after days of emotional distress, following the abduction of his children by armed bandits. He was rushed to a nearby medical facility but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Relatives said the shock and unbearable psychological pressure triggered his sudden death.

“This insecurity is killing us slowly. He couldn’t bear the pain anymore,” a family member told LeadNaija News, describing the development as “a heartbreaking loss that deepens the family’s agony.”

Residents say the incident reflects a broader humanitarian crisis affecting communities terrorised by relentless attacks and mass kidnappings.

Mr. Anthony’s three children remain in captivity as security forces continue intensified search-and-rescue efforts across the region.

The Niger State Government and security agencies are yet to issue an official update on the case at the time of filing this report.
