The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs has approved President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nominees for the position of Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) as well as other nominees designated as commissioners in the agency.
The committee gave the approval on Thursday during a screening session at the National Assembly, Abuja.
In line with parliamentary tradition, former lawmakers who appear before the Senate are accorded the privilege of “take a bow and go.” The nominee for Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayo Omidiran a member of the 8th House of Representatives was therefore asked to take a bow following brief introductory remarks.
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Onyesoh Alwell (Rivers South East), commended President Tinubu for what he described as the “high calibre and quality” of nominees forwarded to the Senate.
The committee’s decision will be transmitted to the Senate plenary, where the final confirmation will be made after the presentation of its report at the next legislative sitting.
