Former Governor of Rivers State, Celestine Omehia, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as disrespectful.

In a statement issued by his Executive Assistant, Nicholas Amaechi, on Friday, in response to the live television interview which Wike hosted in Abuja recently, Omehia urged the former Rivers State governor to reduce his propensity for power and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to do his work.

Omehia claimed that Wike, in the interview, described him and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Rivers State, who declared support for the administration of Governor Fubara and President Bola Tinubu last week as “expired politicians and buccaneers.”

Omehia said this undying inclination for power is tormenting him and serving him unstable moments, describing Wike’s uncontrolled outbursts as product of a confused mind.

According to him, Wike’s anger is that his ambition of a third tenure has crashed and Rivers people have realized that his quest for power is personal and not for the interest of the state or the South-South region.

He said the FCT Minister thought that he would continue to control and abuse the resources and governance of the state, but God, through the people, resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He noted that former governor is known for lying against anyone, anytime and disrespects elders at will

Omehia declared: “I am not a buccaneer and my capacity to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country is not impaired.

“I wonder why he is pained by our support for the governor (Fubara) and the Federal Government under President Tinubu.

“Does he want us to perpetually be at political war with everybody, even long after elections are over and governance taken over?”

While advising Wike to face his job in Abuja, as the state is not missing his presence, Omehia noted that the former governor’s excesses, inconsistencies and hallucinations have reached a regrettable peak.
