The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed its directive restricting the use of smartphones and smart devices by staff members on Grade Level 14 and below during official working hours.

In a circular issued to departments and agencies, the administration restated that only basic mobile phones—commonly referred to as “torchlight phones”—are permitted within office premises for affected staff.

The policy, according to officials, is aimed at enhancing productivity, protecting sensitive government information, and curbing unauthorized recordings or data breaches within the FCTA workforce.
