The Federal Government has announced plans to map economic opportunities across Nigeria’s 8,809 wards as part of efforts to stimulate inclusive growth and achieve its ambition of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, disclosed thisat the 2025 Annual Directors’ Conference of the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) held in Abuja.
Bagudu explained that President Bola Tinubu and the National Economic Council (NEC) had approved a programme that would identify and support economically active ventures at the grassroots to deepen productivity and expand wealth creation across communities.
Bagudu further revealed that the 2026–2030 National Development Plan is being designed using a bottom-up approach, where economic opportunities identified at ward and local government levels would feed into state and national development plans.
