The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced a new policy granting lifetime salary benefits to senior officers retiring at the ranks of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, Commandant-General, or higher.-LeadNaija Reported
The announcement was made on Thursday during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat, where the minister highlighted the ministry’s achievements and its commitment to strengthening institutions under its supervision.
According to a statement issued by DCF P.O. Abraham, National PRO and Head of Corporate Services at the Federal Fire Service, the minister expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for approving the policy, describing it as part of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We have successfully cleared the long-standing backlog of promotions,” the statement quoted him as saying, while adding that future career advancement will now be guided by a new framework centered on competence and performance.
Tunji-Ojo further disclosed that updated training manuals have been developed, while work has commenced on a state-of-the-art Fire Academy, aimed at improving the capacity and professionalism of officers across the ministry’s agencies.
