The Federal Government, through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has unveiled the NEXTGEN RESCO Program, an initiative designed to equip young graduates with critical skills for Nigeria’s fast-growing clean energy sector.
The program, launched in partnership with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and the Ecological Innovation Empowerment Initiative (EIEI), aims to address the skills gap in renewable energy while securing local talent for industry expansion.
A total of 131 graduates — with equal representation of men and women — have been admitted into the year-long training. Participants will gain hands-on experience, engage with experts, and collaborate with key stakeholders in the energy sector.
The REA noted that partnerships with Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs) and private sector players will provide participants with direct work placements, ensuring their newly acquired expertise translates into practical impact.
Officials emphasized that the NEXTGEN RESCO Program not only builds local capacity but also positions Nigerian youth at the forefront of the country’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.
