LeadNaija reports that the Federal Government has unveiled plans to construct 100 housing units in each of the 774 Local Government Areas across Nigeria, as part of the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking in Abuja at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Minister Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa revealed that the initiative aims to deliver affordable housing for Nigerians across all income levels.
The announcement came during a strategic meeting with stakeholders from Creative Sphere Limited at the Ministry’s headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
Describing the scheme as “visionary,” Dangiwa stated that the Renewed Hope Housing Programme reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to housing development in Nigeria and the empowerment of the most vulnerable citizens through sustainable urban planning.
“The President’s vision is clear — to ensure that even the lowest-income earners have access to decent and dignified homes,” the Minister said.
Dangiwa disclosed that funding for the housing project will be drawn from the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF), designed to support infrastructure and housing growth nationwide.
He further explained the payment structure for prospective homeowners, stating that individuals will only be required to contribute one-third of their monthly income to qualify for a unit.
“Even Nigerians earning as low as N30,000 per month can own a home under this programme by paying just N10,000 monthly,” Dangiwa noted. “Likewise, someone earning N90,000 would pay N30,000. This is true affordable housing in action.”
Each estate, according to the Minister, will be fully serviced and come equipped with essential amenities including a primary school, police outpost, clinic, recreational area, and shopping mall, ensuring a livable environment for families and communities.
This bold move by the Federal Government signals a new era for mass housing delivery in Nigeria, and underscores the administration’s commitment to bridging the housing deficit while promoting economic inclusion.
