Tensions escalated in Epping on Wednesday night as rioters targeted a local hotel housing migrants, hurling fire crackers into the premises.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as the explosives were set off near the building, sparking fear among residents and guests. Local authorities have condemned the act, calling it a “reckless and inhumane attack” that endangered lives.

“This is not protest — this is violence and intimidation against vulnerable people,” one community leader said, urging calm and restraint.

Emergency services responded swiftly, and no serious injuries were reported. Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
