Iran has begun allowing a number of Chinese vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz under what Tehran describes as Iranian Strait management protocols.

The arrangement followed diplomatic efforts by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and China’s ambassador to Iran, with the transit facilitated under the framework of the countries’ strategic partnership and bilateral agreements on navigation procedures.
